Cubicles

Caught up with 'Wake Up Sid' last Saturday with LSD, there was this part in it where the hero finds a job in the office, and boy was it some office. It was pretty cool, no cubicles at all. The manager had one big cabin, vending machines of course. No cubicles, now that's one office I'd wanna go to work everyday. The big sick conference hall with leather seats a with a flashy projector all is replaced by a big table with a white board and post-its. That's not just it, no dress code, well not that you can walk into office in your undies, but casuals that's the code of the day, everyday. I work in an IT firm, and I still don't know why we need cubicles? You could imagine them as bunkers place horizontally, it looks like some concentration camp of some formally dressed individuals. The place needs some posters, not posters of your HR buddy or the Go-Green campaign in office, let's get some RF posters, Cars, some graffiti, a good photo of 'aurora borealis', a view from the canyon.

Tim Robbins cell in 'Shawshank' had posters!!!. It changed his life in prison. I've decided, I'm decorating my cubicle, not like a tea shop or something... something inspiring... get a RF poster... A Steve Jobs poster... I'm gonna have my own cool, three walled office.

By the way a few updates. Two of my friends are getting into some serious hobbies. In alphabetical order.
Shveta: A fashion designer by profession, she's now getting her hands into 'pimping up' your old and boring dupattas, tops and curtains. She's into 'block printing' and 'tie and dye', she takes orders for printed dupattas, T-shirts and tops. You have to see the bed sheet that she just did with the whole 'tie and dye' technique- totally El wicked-o!!! and I'm not saying this just because she's my friend. She's really good at this. So if you guys are interested in 'pimping up' your wardrobe a bit. Just add a comment with your phone number or drop a mail to me at itsme[dot]bijou[at]gmail[dot]com. I'll pass on your details to Shveta.

Here's sample of she made.

Now Vasu, I have a theory about Vasu; God must have set course for her to land on earth in a place where there's cheese, chocolate and whole lotta goodness made from ovens. Seems she took a detour and landed in India instead (good for us). She's into big time baking, has an oven for herself and she's chugging out whole lot of awesomeness from this new friend of hers whenever she can find some time. She's decided on sharing her baking skills with anybody who wants to give baking a try. She will provide the materials and an oven, you just have to walk in and watch her at work and you'll get to make your 'own' cake with some help from Vasu. So you guys interested or know anybody who's interested. Drop in a comment to the end of this post or you could get in touch with Vasu on her blog here. You could also drop me a mail at itsme[dot]bijou[at]gmail[dot]com. I'll pass on your details to Vasu. She does share her recipes and pixs of the baked goodies on her blog, feel free to check it out.

THE Best friend...

1. THE best friend gets 'jealous' when their friends talk about or miss their 'other' best friends.
2. Though it kills them to see their best friend miss another friend but THE Best Friends 'hate' their competition.
3. THE best friend knows it's 'not fair' when all the 'other' Varshus, Animeshs, Sambhajis, Aashus and Sankets get a head start.
4. Can't 'wait' till they become THE best friend.
5. Knows that family is not the 'only' blood relation in the world. THE best friend is all together a new Blood Type.
6. THE Best friends never get enough of 'being' THE best friend.
7. THE best friend always thinks why it took 'so long' to be friends. Wished he had all the time from KG to this day to be friends and wants do it all over again.

My best friends wedding. No it's not a typo

I can see what's happening
(What?)
And they don't have a clue
(Who?)
They'll fall in love and here's the bottom line
Our trio's down to two.
(Oh.)

The sweet caress of twilight
There's magic everywhere
And with all this romantic atmosphere
Disaster's in the air

Yup I can totally related to Timon and Pumba now with this song. Well if you like it you can catch the whole song here. It's been 4 years since I've know these two guys, Vasu and Anurag. We worked for the same project for a whole two years then again on our next project for another two more years. Lot's of stuff happened in between. Now these college sweet-hearts are getting married. OK, so what's there to worry.

It all began with these guys looking for a place to settle down for their happily ever after. By the way just to give you guys a context. We stay pretty close by, walking distance from my place. Now these guys go and find a place, in some far away galaxy. I'm not denying the fact that it's a pretty wicked place, with the kitchen facing a mangrove and all, like Vasu liked. But hellooooo!!!!! It's friggin miles away from where I stay.

As the Godfather would say
"Just when I keep finding a place close to these guys. They keep moving to a place far away from me"

Now for the ones who still don't find this scary, here's a little bit about the trio. We totally make a great team, they like me, I love them allot. We go for movies together, we go on road trips together. We are a team, now after these guys get married, that is it for me. They upgrade themselves to husband and wife and it's all gonna change from then on. They move to the new place. They get new friends, new neighbours in their fancy apartment. They go out with their new friends. I'm scared that, they'd never need me again.

Oh Bijou! grow up, it's not gonna happen. Well I certainly do hope so, not that I'm sad that they are getting married n all. I'm like totally happy for them. I'm the most happiest in the whole wide world to see them finally get to their happily ever after. I just can't digest the fact that, I'm only gonna have guest appearances in their happily ever after. Maybe it's the whole distance thing you know, with them moving really far away.

Come on... in
FRIENDS,  when Chandler got engaged he moved in next door with Monica. He didn't ditch Joey and move some place far far away. See that's what friends do, I know, they are mean and un-friendly now. OK mean and un-friendly was a bit too much.

A lot's gonna change I guess, post their marriage, but no matter what I know that, if ever they need me. I'll always be there for them. And sure they will need me, well I don't know how they'll need me but I foresee baby-sitting as a major need. Yeah, I'm good with kids, kids dig me. Do they know about that, maybe I should tell them.

Still I so hope they didn't move so far from my place. Not to mention that would mean, no more free yummy food at Vasu's place.I'm just over reacting, at least that's what I say to myself. Well they will need me, and I'll sure get some guest appearances, but I'll sure make it some real good memorable guest appearances. So, as far as the trio is concerned, to be or not to be. Definitely a to be (damn where's that mail van when you wanna see one).

By the way the wedding's in Jodhpur on 24th of November.
